Finally! Finally! Finally!
After 2.5 months (!!!) we finally have a working car again! Got the second gearbox shipped from Belgium and the car was fixed in only one day. We did a testdrive and he ran very smoothly. We couln’t be more happy – but still carefull as we learned from the last time. Even though we lost so much time, and did’nt really prepare anything, we decided to go to Uganda and Rwanda as well. Just before dark, we felt we really had enough of Nairobi and felt was time for newer horizons. We went off to Busia bordertown, but not before have a laugh and a dance in Kisumu ’s best nightclubs. As one of the few “muzungu’s” there, we felt a bit akward at the beginning, but soon girls were swirming around Simon and he became upstoppable! Real upbeat, ass –in- your- face dancing and the mood was set! Waking up the next morning was a bit more painfull, but worth it!
Arriving at the Busia border we were confronted with not paying the roadtax when entering Kenia via moyale and had to pay a fine. Luckely (or unluckely) – the arts of bribbery are still very present. After stamping out in Kenia, we were welcomed in Uganda… But not without asking – offcourse- another muzungu fee. Apart from our visas (50$pp) and the roadtax (20$pp) we had to pay for a so-called- third party sticker (120$! ). Don’t even know what it exactly is, but i’m guessing it’s some kind of insurance they want to sell u. Even though we had our Yellow card - Comesa, they still wanted us to pay it. Luckely, Simon has some undiscovered talents with the African female population and “ jambo’d” his way out of it. Uganda, a very lush and green country, ideal for some adventures and white-water rafting on the Nile in jinja. Off we go!
